What's new.

Well, if I'm going to have a web log I should post to it occasionally, right? So, in no particular order, here's the latest:

Racing season is underway and I made my big debut at the Cherry Pie road race last Sunday. Five months away from racing makes me forget how hard it is. I really wanted to come home with a pie, but no luck. On a slightly larger scale, the Tour of California is happening right now. I watched stage 2 last night in a bar downtown. It was a bit surreal to be drinking a beer and inhaling second hand smoke while watching my friends and teammates on ESPN. But it's great to see a big race like Tour of California get off the ground and get such a great reception from the start.

Real racing commences for me in less than 2 weeks. I'll be racing the Tour of Taiwan on March 5. I'll actually be leaving Portland on March 1. We'll get a couple days there to relax and acclimate prior to the start of the race. It should be quite an experience. I've never left the Western Hemisphere before, so I'm really looking forward to the trip. The team will be myself, Jeff Louder, Garrett Peltonen, Kirk O'Bee, and Roman Kilun. I plan to post to this site frequently from Taiwan, so be sure to check back.

Other news of note is that I just finalized the purchase of my first home. It's a shoebox size condo in NW Portland. Maybe I'll put some pictures up. It's small, but it's mine, which I like. Adrienne and I are taking some time painting and getting it all set up before moving. We're saving the actual move until after Taiwan. Delay the pain.

I also rode today with Jonathan Maus, creator of BikePortland.org. It's a great site covering every facet of cycling culture in the city. It turns out there's a lot going on outside of the racing scene. But as a former amateur racer himself, Jonathan has a good deal of appreciation for the competitive side of the sport. Being that we're all out there on the roads dealing with the same issues, it only makes sense that we should consider ourselves a single community. Keep it up Jonathan.

That's enough for now.

Sweet, I'm stoked you've got a journal going. I wonder if Oregon has the highest percentage of racer blog/journals in the US or something.

I'll pass on a bit of advice I got a while ago: Less race reports, more gossip.

I wanna know if your Healthnet teammates shave thier legs with the grain or against the grain.

I wanna hear about the color paint you used in your sweet new pad. Is the carpet going to match?!?
