The blog lives...

I'm out of hibernation. Check out the blue sky:

Just last week I was doing intervals up on Skyline in full rain gear during a snowstorm. I did not find it amusing. It's been a cold, wet winter here, but I'm looking forward to getting the season started this weekend in Fresno. I've gotten a couple good thumpings over the last few weekends from some really fit locals at OBRA races. Hopefully that was the wakeup call my body needed. I'd forgotten just how hard racing is after a few months off.

I'm really looking forward to a new season and making up for some lost time in 2006. It was an incredibly difficult year for me and it really left me wondering why, exactly, I'm putting myself through it all. But after a lot of thought and an extended break from the bike, I've regained my motivation. I've been having a lot more fun on the bike lately than I've had in quite awhile, and I'm starting to feel good again too. I think it'll be a good year. Hopefully this blog will become a running commentary on race wins instead of ER visits. I'd enjoy that.

I'll get more up soon, but until then, here are a few pictures from the winter:

Glacier National Park in December. Adrienne and I took the train for there for a few days of snow shoeing and relaxing.

Adrienne at Waterfront Park back in January. Real sticking snow is so rare here that we had to spend the evening walking around and acting foolish.

Here I am trying to feed a pancake to Scout. Scout does not like pancakes as much as I do.

Hint: Scout should eat most anything if butter is involved. Glad to see a new post, regardless ;-)
